CASL STEM Scholarship Application - Returning College Students

Please note this application form is for students already enrolled and attended at least one semester of college/university. Please use the new student form to apply for a scholarship if you are starting your first semester at college/university.

Applications are due April 1, 2025, for students entering college in the Fall of 2025.
This scholarship is only available to female students of Chinese descent.
Applicants must reside in Chicago's Chinatown, Bridgeport, Brighton Park, Armour Square or McKinley Park neighborhoods and are planning to enroll/enrolled full time at a four-year degree program at a U.S. accredited not-for-profit, private or public college/university and elect a STEM major.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need (annual household income less than $70,000).
Scholarship recipients must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident.

Application Essay

Candidates must write a personal essay (300 word minimum) on one of the topics listed below. (Note: essay can be written in Chinese if the candidate chooses):

- Tell us about your current collegiate experience. What have you learned about yourself so far? How do you feel about your current studies?

- Tell us about your definition of success and how you will achieve it.

- Briefly describe your desired career path and goals. What jobs and industries are you interested in pursuing with your degree? What do you hope to achieve?

Submission & Next Steps

Once all applications are submitted they will be reviewed. Finalists will be invited for an interview and then award decisions will be made in early May.
